Reports regarding Tappi's arrest rejected

DUBAI:    Reports regarding arrest of Owais Muzaffar, alias Tappi, were rejected on Monday shortly after TV channels reported that the foster brother of Asif Zardari was taken into custody by the Interpol.Citing unnamed  sources in Federal Investigation Agency, Geo TV reported that the reports regarding Tappi's arrest were not correct.The sources said that Chief Financial Officer  Of Omni Group Arif Khan has been taken into custody in Dubai and he would be  shifted to Islamabad this week.Earlier, TV channels reported that the  arrest was made on Pakistan's request and Tappi was expected to  be transferred to Pakistan soon.The TV channel reported that the former Sindh Assembly lawmaker  is accused of selling government lands   in violation of laws.Senior journalist Mazhar Abbas  said Tappi  once operated as  de-facto chief minister of Sindh and he is familiar with  a lot of  issues.Hamid Mir said that  Tappi could be asked to become approver  against Zardari.He said Zardari and Tappi were not on talking terms for at least four years , adding that the arrest could create troubles for  the former president of Pakistan.Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur are on interim bail in case pertaining to money laundering.
