KARACHI: Pakistan film and drama actress Mahira Khan has said that tolerance is the first and foremost pillar on which Pakistan was built.Commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Tweet about removal of Fayyaz Chohan, Mahira said, “‘Tolerance is the first and foremost pillar on which Pakistan was built’.”PTI had tweeted, “PTI Punjab government has removed Fayyaz Chohan from the post of Punjab Information Minister following derogatory remarks about the Hindu community. Bashing someone’s faith should not b a part of any narrative. Tolerance is the first & foremost pillar on which Pakistan was built.”Mahira was the first to raise voice against derogatory remarks of Fayyaz Chohan and had urged action against him.Punjab Information and Culture Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan was removed from his ministry on Tuesday over his objectionable remarks against the Hindu community.Chohan, who has literally been the most controversial cabinet member of Punjab since the PTI government came to existence in August 2018 and always remained in headlines for his objectionable remarks, either against stage actresses or journalists, was asked to resign by Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in a meeting held on Tuesday. The Punjab government had to take the decision after Fayyaz Chohan’s remarks against the Hindu community drew the ire of his own party leadership, including Shireen Mazari, Naeemul Haq as well as other parties and civil society.
